Q&A: Question about Grey's Anatomy Season 2 Episode 17- As We Know It (2)?

So, this is basically the episode where a bomb is lodged in a guy’s body cavity, and not knowing this, a paramedic sticks her hand in there to stop the bleeding. The thing is, if she even WIGGLES her fingers, the bomb will explode and kill everyone. But being as frightened and panicked as she is, the girl freaks out and pulls her hand out, which is when Meredith immediately sticks her hand in. So anyway, the Bomb Squad is there telling her what to do, finally they get the bomb out and the guy carries it slowly to a bin and drops it… and then he dies. So my question is, does this guy know, the whole time, that to do his job he will have to die? It’s just unfathomable. Pink Mist. A million smithereens of his own body parts. And he’s so calm about it. Someone, please, enlighten me! p.s. that was a pretty fricken intense episode! damn i love this show ♥
